Conrad at The Sterling Castle

A little rain may have stopped us from decorating the car, but it certainly didn’t stop our own James Meredith, photographer Butch Oglesby of Blue Moon Studios, and Misty and her staff from having a great time at The Sterling Castle’s open house! The Castle is located in Shelby, Alabama, near Columbiana. Visit their Website or check them out on Facebook.

“Conrad” is one of only approximately 25 cars of his kind in the United States. The model, nicknamed “Adenauer” for the German chancellor who used them as state limousines, was a direct competitor to the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud. At $14,000 new in 1959, you could have bought three Cadillacs for the same money. As you might imagine, these are quite rare!

Research has led us to believe that there was only ONE Blue Adenauer Mercedes delivered to the United States, and here it is… in striking #356 Columbia Blue.

This past winter, we replaced the leather seat upholstery with custom-made leather to match the original. We also refinished all of the walnut wood trim.

Recently, another blog site managed to lose all of our posts. So, I’ve decided to take over and put things on our own server (what I should have done to start with). Of course, there wasn’t much to be lost — it seems like cleaning cars, working on cars, and driving weddings always takes priority over blog updating!

1963 Rolls-Royce “Claude” at Callaway Gardens, GA – May 9, 2010

On May 9, 2010, we had the pleasure of doing three things that we are starting to see a lot more of. An out of town wedding, on a Sunday, with a Military member. Beautiful bride Annie Allen requested our 1963 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III, “Claude”, for her charming wedding at Callaway Gardens in Georgia. What a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
